Arizona State vs. UCLA updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arizona State vs. UCLA football game
Game Recap
The UCLA Bruins won the last time they faced the Arizona State Sun Devils, and things went their way on Saturday, too. UCLA beat ASU 25-18. Despite the victory, that's the fewest points the Bruins have scored all year.
quarterIt took a quarter to shake off the cobwebs, but after zero first-half points, the UCLA offense picked up 17 points in the second quarter. The Sun Devils weren't quite able to keep up, and the score was 17-3 heading into the break. UCLA was outperformed in the second half 15-8 but had enough points saved up to walk away with the win.
UCLA can attribute much of their success to QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who passed for one TD and 192 yards on 24 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 49 yards, and RB Brittain Brown, who picked up 94 yards on the ground on seven carries. Brown's longest run was for 66 yards in the second quarter.
UCLA's defense was a presence as well, as it got past ASU's offensive line to sack QB Jayden Daniels five times for a total loss of 31 yards. The heavy lifting was done by DB Mo Osling III and LB Caleb Johnson, who each racked up two sacks.
The losing side was boosted by RB DeaMonte Trayanum, who picked up 108 yards on the ground on 15 carries.
The win improved the Bruins' record to 3-2. The Sun Devils' overall record fell to 0-2.
UCLA will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the USC Trojans at 3 p.m. ET. As for ASU, they will go up against the Arizona Wildcats at 7 p.m. ET next Friday at Arizona Stadium. Like ASU, Arizona is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 24-13 to the Colorado Buffaloes.
