Game Recap
QB Zac Thomas had a quiet outing against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers last week, but he sure didn't disappoint on Saturday. Thomas passed for four TDs and 279 yards on 29 attempts as the Appalachian State Mountaineers beat the Troy Trojans 47-10.
In addition to Thomas, the Mountaineers got help from RB Camerun Peoples, who punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 63-yard rush in the first quarter -- was one of the highlights of the contest.
No one had a standout game offensively for Troy, but they got scores from WR Kaylon Geiger and QB Gunnar Watson. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse LB Carlton Martial, who racked up nine tackles.
The victory bumped Appalachian State's record up to 7-2. The Trojans are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
The Mountaineers will stay at home against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at 7 p.m. ET Dec. 4 at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Appalachian State's defense will surely be attentive in the film room this week preparing for a Louisiana offense that has put up 35 points on average. As for Troy, they will face off against the South Alabama Jaguars at 2 p.m. ET next Saturday at Hancock Whitney Stadium. South Alabama enter the matchup touting a three-game streak of increasing point totals.
