Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern football game
The Appalachian State Mountaineers and the Georgia Southern Eagles are set to square off in a Sun Belt matchup at 2:30 p.m. ET Nov. 27 at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The Mountaineers are out to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Appalachian State's contest against the Troy Trojans last week was close at halftime, but Appalachian State turned on the heat in the second half with 35 points. Appalachian State claimed a resounding 45-7 win over Troy on the road. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Appalachian State had established a 31-7 advantage. Their RB Nate Noel looked sharp as he rushed for one TD and 102 yards on 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Georgia Southern was first on the board but had to settle for second at the end of their matchup against the BYU Cougars last week. The contest between them was not particularly close, with the Eagles falling 34-17. QB Connor Cigelske wasn't much of a difference maker for Georgia Southern; Cigelske threw one interception with only 122 yards passing.
Appalachian State is the favorite in this one, with an expected 24.5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a five-game streak of ATS wins.
Appalachian State's victory brought them up to 9-2 while Georgia Southern's loss pulled them down to 3-8. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Mountaineers are stumbling into the game with the 196th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown ten on the season. The Eagles have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 220th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown 12 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
