Alabama vs. New Mexico State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

The Alabama Crimson Tide's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the New Mexico State Aggies at noon ET Nov. 13 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide are out to keep their five-game home win streak alive.

The LSU Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but last week Bama proved too difficult a challenge. Bama managed a 20-14 victory over the Tigers. WR Jameson Williams was the offensive standout of the game for Bama, catching ten passes for one TD and 160 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Williams' 58-yard TD reception in the third quarter.

Bama's defense was a presence as well, as it got past LSU's offensive line to sack QB Max Johnson five times for a total loss of 22 yards. The heavy lifting was done by LB Dallas Turner and LB Will Anderson Jr., who each racked up two sacks.

New Mexico State suffered a bitter loss last week, failing to capitalize on an early lead against the Utah State Aggies. New Mexico State found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 35-13 punch to the gut against Utah State. New Mexico State was surely aware of their 18.5-point disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result. One thing holding New Mexico State back was the mediocre play of QB Jonah Johnson, who did not have his best game: he passed for 298 yards on 44 attempts.

The Crimson Tide are the favorite in this one, with an expected 51.5-point (!) margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

Bama's win brought them up to 8-1 while New Mexico State's defeat pulled them down to a reciprocal 1-8. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Bama is stumbling into the matchup with the 181st most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 14 on the season. New Mexico State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 239th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 39 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
