Akron vs. Kent State Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Wednesday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Akron vs. Kent State football game
Kent State and Akron are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The pair will face off in a Mid American East battle at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Summa Field at InfoCision Stadium. Kent State is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Kent State might have drawn first blood against Buffalo last Saturday, but it was Buffalo who got the last laugh. Kent State lost to Buffalo at home by a decisive 24-6 margin.
Meanwhile, Akron's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They were completely outmatched by Bowling Green on the road and fell 41-14. Akron was down 34-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Nobody from Akron had a standout game, but they got scores from Lorenzo Lingard and Drake Anderson.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 1-7.
In addition to losing their last games, Kent State and Akron failed to cover the spread. As for their next game, the matchup is expected to be close, with Akron going off as just a 3-point favorite. There could be an interesting gambling play in this one: Kent State is only 2-6 against the spread overall, but they're a solid 4-1 ATS vs. Akron across their last five meetings.
Kent State didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Akron in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 33-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kent State since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
