Suns' Collin Gillespie: Plans to re-sign with Phoenix

Gillespie intends to sign a four-year, $48 million contract with the Suns, Shams Charania of ESPN reports Saturday.
Gillespie latched on with Phoenix on a two-way deal in 2024-25 before signing a one-year pact with the club last July. Following a career-best year in 2025-26, the 26-year-old guard has earned a long-term deal. Across 80 regular-season outings last season, the sharpshooter averaged 12.7 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 three-pointers and 1.2 steals while shooting 40.2 percent from beyond the arc in 28.5 minutes per game.

Gillespie chipped in 20 points (7-12 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Monday's 131-122 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Gillespie enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Suns in 2025-26. Over 80 regular-season outings, the sharpshooter averaged 12.7 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 2.9 three-pointers in 28.5 minutes per game while shooting 40.1 percent from downtown. Gillespie is set for unrestricted free agency this summer, and he certainly appears to be in line for a multi-year contract, whether it be with Phoenix or elsewhere.
Gillespie will start Game 2 against the Thunder on Wednesday, Shane Young of the Suns' official site reports.
With Jordan Goodwin (calf) out, Gillespie will step into the starting five. As a starter during the regular season (58 games), the 26-year-old guard averaged 13.3 points, 4.7 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 29.6 minutes per contest.

Even though he remains a player with decent fantasy upside due to the tight grip he has on a starting role, it's worth noting he's been trending in the wrong direction for a while now. Gillespie might have scored in double digits in seven of his last eight games, but over that stretch, he's averaging 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per contest while shooting 38.5 percent from the floor and 34.8 percent from three-point range.
Gillespie amassed 11 points (4-16 FG, 3-11 3Pt), five rebounds and 10 assists across 32 minutes during Monday's 131-105 victory over the Grizzlies.
Gillespie once again struggled to find his rhythm on the offensive end, as he's now 4-for-24 from the field over his last two games. However, he managed to make up for his shooting woes by dishing out double-digit assists for the third time in 74 appearances this season. Gillespie has scored in double figures in six of his last seven showings, and he should continue to receive plenty of chances to turn things around amidst this brief offensive skid.

Gillespie led the way for the Suns in this matchup and drained at least six three-pointers for the fifth time this season.
