Draft Scouting Report

Pro Comparison: Jonathan Mogbo
Summary

Skilled, undersized big man who has better-than-you-think athletic tools and turned himself into one of the best players in the A-10 after two underwhelming seasons at Providence.

About
  • Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team as a senior.
  • Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team as a junior.
  • Led the A-10 in offensive and defensive rebounding rate in 2024-25.
Strengths
  • Should fit rather seamlessly into a pick-and-roll offense with his ability to flip his hips, get in and out of screens and do damage as a roller. Rated in the 75th percentile or better in back-to-back seasons as a pick-and-roll scorer.
  • Castro’s got nifty playmaking in his bag. Can find cutters for backdoors or lobs over the top of defenders who try to blow up dribble handoffs. Willing ball-mover with good feel for the simple reads in ball screens.
  • Mobile enough to be a helpful secondary rim protector.
Weaknesses
  • Castro is only 220 pounds and can get dislodged at times by beefy 5s. He’s not quite sturdy enough to hold up as a back-line anchor.
  • While Castro knows where his bread is buttered in the paint, the lack of skill is untenable. Castro is not a threat to space the floor and is just OK (63%) at the free throw line for his career. He’s a fit-dependent option, who likely needs to play with a stretch 5.
  • Turned it over on 20% of his drives, so he can’t bend defenses as a floor spacer or as a driver.
Combine Data
  • Wingspan: 7 feet, 1.25 inch
  • Standing vertical leap: 31 inches
  • Standing reach: 9 feet, 1.5 inch
  • Lane agility: 11.42 seconds
  • Three quarter sprint: 3.20 seconds
  • Max vertical leap: 36.5 inches
