2026-27 NBA storylines
Will the Thunder win their second title in three years?
Oklahoma City won the NBA Finals in 2025 before falling to San Antonio in the Western Conference finals last year. The Thunder traded Lugentz Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins this summer, but they retained back-to-back MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander along with All-NBA players Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams. They also selected Aday Mara and Bennett Stirtz in the first round of the NBA Draft and defeated the Spurs on NBA Opening Night.
The Thunder have the league's No. 1 defense across the last two seasons, fortified by three All-Defensive Team players. Cason Wallace led the league in steals, while Jalen Williams and Alex Caruso are also elite defenders. They will be looking to clean up their rebounding numbers after ranking outside the top 20 in rebounding rate last season.
DraftKings has Oklahoma City priced as the +140 favorite to win the Western Conference and the +270 co-favorite with San Antonio to win the NBA Finals. The Spurs are just behind the Thunder in the Western Conference odds at +150. Gilgeous-Alexander is +380 to win the MVP and +280 to lead the league in points per game during the regular season.
