The Week 2 NFL schedule opens with one of the most exciting matchups of the season, with two high-powered offenses in action. The Lions and Bills were tied for third in scoring last season at 28.3 points per game, after finishing first and second, respectively, in scoring offense the season before. Week 1 showed both offenses are ready to keep those trends going, with Buffalo defeating the Texans, 36-31, and the Lions holding off the Saints, 31-30, in overtime. Josh Allen threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns last week for Buffalo. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 156 yards and two scores for the Lions. Bet on the NFL by claiming the latest DraftKings promo code, where new users get $200 in bonus bets after your first $5 wager

The Houston defense draws another of the NFL's top offenses this week, and the Texans certainly hope for a better showing than last week's 36-31 loss to the Bills. Houston had the No. 2 scoring defense in the NFL last season, and after facing Josh Allen last week, Joe Burrow is no easier task. Burrow threw for 254 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' 33-27 win over Tampa Bay last week as they had no issues scoring even with Ja'Marr Chase held to two receptions for 12 yards. A top offense against a top defense makes this a compelling matchup. Claim the Fanatics Sportsbook promo code here to get $350 in FanCash:

As has been the case far too often for Packers fans in recent seasons, Green Bay blew a late lead and lost a game on Sunday. The Vikings rallied to defeat Green Bay, 39-22, in Week 1 after Minnesota outscored the Packers 22-0 in the fourth quarter. Jordan Love threw for 387 yards and two touchdowns, but he also had an interception and lost a fumble. Meanwhile, the Jets are coming off a 23-10 win over the Titans last week ahead of their home opener on Sunday. Geno Smith threw for 215 yards in his return to New York. The Jets held the Titans to 195 total yards. Claim the Caesars Sportsbook promo code CBSDYW here and double your winnings on 10 bets:

The Saints nearly came back from a 21-0 deficit to knock off the Lions last week, but fell just short in a 31-30 overtime loss. The Saints had possession second in overtime and scored a touchdown to match Detroit, but they chose the two-point try after the score, and it failed. Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions, and Chris Olave had 10 receptions for 182 yards. The Ravens won their opener under head coach Jesse Minter in a 41-23 final against the Colts. Lamar Jackson threw for 324 yards and a score, and Derrick Henry rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns. These two high-powered offenses could have another shootout Sunday. Claim $365 in bonus bets with a $10 bet by signing up for bet365 Sportsbook with the promo code CBSBET365:

New England has the rest advantage, playing in the NFL opener on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and falling to the Seahawks, 13-10, in a Super Bowl rematch. Now New England plays its home opener and does so without star offseason acquisition A.J. Brown, who is out at least the next four weeks with an ankle injury. The Patriots went 14-3 last season behind the No. 8 scoring offense and No. 3 scoring defense. Meanwhile, the Steelers are coming off a 20-13 win over Atlanta in the second and final chapter of head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a duo. The Steelers held the Falcons to 238 yards and forced two turnovers last week. Sign up at Hard Rock Bet and get $100 in bonus bets:

The Eagles began their season with a 24-22 win over the Commanders at home, but they'll go on the road to take on the Titans in Week 2. Tennessee opened the season with a 23-10 loss at home to the Jets and the Titans could only muster 195 yards of total offense. Both teams failed to cover the spread in Week 1 with offenses that looked anemic. Philadelphia will also be moving on without All-Pro guard Landon Dickerson, as he was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Use the FanDuel promo code to get $350 in bonus bets for NFL games:

The Chicago Bears played the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history on Sunday, beating the Panthers 59-37 on the road. Now they'll host the Vikings, who erased a double-digit deficit to earn a 39-22 win over the Packers in their opener. Carson Wentz will take over at quarterback with Kyler Murray (concussion) sidelined and Justin Jefferson figures to be a major problem for a Chicago secondary that gave up 353 passing yards. However, the Bears rushed for 291 yards last week and Minnesota's defense will also be tested after facing a slew of backup running back against Green Bay. Bet on the NFL with the BetMGM bonus code CBSSPORTS for up to $1,500 in bonus bets:

Todd Bowles and Todd Monken would probably both admit that their teams looked sloppy in season-opening losses last week. The Buccaneers turned it over four times and Baker Mayfield was sacked four times in a 33-27 loss to the Bengals. The Browns gave it up twice and Deshaun Watson was sacked six times in a 34-10 loss to the Jaguars. Now Tampa Bay comes home, while Cleveland continues a Florida road swing to start the season. It's also a revenge game for Baker Mayfield, as he takes on the team that drafted him first overall just weeks after signing a $165-million extension. Bet on the NFL by claiming the latest DraftKings promo code, where new users get $200 in bonus bets after your first $5 wager

The two NFC South rivals are off to 0-1 starts, where one side of the ball has to feel let down. The Falcons held the Steelers to 264 yards of total offense in a 20-13 loss, and the Panthers put up 478 yards of total offense in a 59-37 loss to the Bears. Bijan Robinson accounted for 171 of Atlanta's 238 yards from scrimmage last week, but the quarterback situation is dire with third-stringer Cooper Rush starting. Meanwhile, Bryce Young threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns last week, but Carolina's defense gave up 552 yards. Claim $365 in bonus bets with a $10 bet by signing up for bet365 Sportsbook with the promo code CBSBET365:

Jim Harbaugh admitted that he wished that he'd have given his starters more preseason reps after a disastrous 26-14 loss to the Cardinals to open the season. Meanwhile, Klint Kubiak made his debut as an NFL head coach with a 27-13 win over the Dolphins. The Chargers have swept the season series in each of the last two seasons with Harbaugh at the helm, but he'll need to make quick adjustment defensively after giving up 393 yards last week. Meanwhile, the Raiders have expressed some optimism that Brock Bowers (knee) might return to take pressure off of Ashton Jeanty after he piled up 145 scrimmage yards in Week 1. Claim the Fanatics Sportsbook promo code here to get $350 in FanCash:

These two AFC playoff teams from a season ago got off to dramatically different starts, with Denver losing 31-10 against Kansas City and Jacksonville beating Cleveland 34-10. For even more contrast, Bo Nix averaged 4.7 yards per pass attempt, and Trevor Lawrence threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns on only 23 attempts. The Jaguars also managed a 34-20 victory over the Broncos in Denver last season, so their status as underdogs might perk the ears of more seasoned NFL bettors. Claim the Caesars Sportsbook promo code CBSDYW here and double your winnings on 10 bets:

Dallas and Washington are both coming off divisional losses in Week 1, as Washington fell to Philadelphia and Dallas lost to New York. The Cowboys are trying to avoid their first 0-2 start since 2010, which is the second-longest active streak without a 0-2 start. Washington has not started 0-2 since 2019, but it is 2-11 in its last 13 games after starting the 2025 campaign 3-2. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels returned from a dislocated elbow in Week 1, finishing with 164 passing yards, 31 rushing yards and two passing touchdowns in a 24-22 loss to the Eagles. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had 175 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception in a 28-20 loss to the Giants. Claim the Fanatics Sportsbook promo code CBSFAN26 here to get up to $1,000 in FanCash:

The 49ers have a combined 54 Pro Bowl selections on their active roster, while the Dolphins have just one, making it the largest gap in Pro Bowl selections entering any game in 29 years. San Francisco is coming off a 27-7 win over the Rams in Australia on Thursday in Week 1, which was the largest Week 1 win over a preseason Super Bowl favorite. The 49ers also held the Rams to their fewest points in a game with quarterback Matthew Stafford on the field. Miami is coming off a 27-13 loss to the Raiders, as Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis completed 15 of 27 passes for 220 yards and an interception in his Miami debut. Sign up at Hard Rock Bet and get $100 in bonus bets:

Seattle won the Super Bowl last season, and it extended its winning streak to 11 games with a 13-10 win over the Patriots in Week 1. The Seahawks have won 14 of their last 15 road games, and they have won nine straight games against Arizona. Quarterback Sam Darnold is expected to miss a few weeks with a glute injury, giving backup Drew Lock a starting opportunity. Arizona is coming off a 26-14 win over the Chargers, and the Cardinals can become the seventh team ever to start 2-0 following a 14+ loss season. Their win snapped a nine-game losing streak, as quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 27 of 37 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown. Bet on the NFL by claiming the latest DraftKings promo code, where new users get $200 in bonus bets after your first $5 wager

Mahomes had 352 passing yards and an interception, while Colts quarterback Daniel Jones had 181 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Colts are coming off a 41-23 loss to the Ravens in Week 1, while the Chiefs are coming off a 31-10 win over the Broncos. Money line

A money line bet is the simplest way to bet on Week 2 NFL games, as it only requires bettors to pick the winner. If a team is -200 to win, a $200 bet pays out $100, while a $100 bet on a +200 money line pays out $200.

Spread

The spread levels the playing field between teams, as it is the number of points a team is expected to win by. A team favored by 2.5 points needs to win by at least three points to cover the spread, while the underdog needs to keep the margin to two points or fewer (or win outright) to cover the spread.

Over/under

This is the total number of expected points scored in the game. An over/under of 49.5 requires 50 points to go Over and 49 points or fewer to go Under.

Team total

Bettors can also wager on the total number of points for each individual team. A team with an over/under of 20.5 points needs to score at least 21 points to go Over its team total.

Anytime touchdown scorer

One of the most popular NFL markets is the anytime touchdown scorer market. It is simply a wager on a player to score a touchdown at any point during his respective game.

Player props

There are various player props available for every NFL game, including markets like passing yards, passing attempts, rushing yards, total receptions, total carries, touchdowns and more.

Parlays

Parlays combine multiple bets into one wager, so the odds are much longer than single wagers. However, every leg of the parlay must win in order for the bet to cash.

Season win total

Every team has a season win total, which is the expected number of wins for that team during the 2026-27 regular season. Those win totals will be updated after every game.

Division winner

Some NFL bettors are particularly familiar with certain divisions, and the division winner market allows them to put that knowledge to use. Each division has its own set of odds, which will change every week as standings get updated.

Super Bowl winner

Another popular NFL betting market is the Super Bowl winner. It is the biggest game of the year, so bettors often want to place wagers on teams before the odds start shifting throughout the season.

Awards

There are multiple NFL awards to wager on, including MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year and more.

Make/miss playoffs

Every team has odds to make or miss the postseason. Some teams are heavily favored to make the playoffs, while other teams are longshots to make the field. Bet on the NFL with the BetMGM bonus code CBSSPORTS for up to $1,500 in bonus bets:

How NFL betting payouts work

NFL betting payouts are determined using American odds, with the minus sign (-) indicating the favorite and the plus sign (+) indicating the underdog. The total payout includes the original stake along with the potential profit, and they vary depending on the type of market. Standard spreads are -115 at sportsbooks, meaning bettors need to wager $115 to win $100 on a successful bet.

Parlays can increase payouts exponentially, but every leg of the parlay needs to win in order for the bet to win. A standard two-leg parlay of -110 wagers pays +264, with a winning $100 bet resulting in a $264 profit. Underdogs pay more than favorites because the betting market considers those teams less likely to win.
