Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Snags steal in win
Soderstrom went 0-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Soderstrom's 10-game hitting streak came to a close, but it wasn't a totally wasted effort for him. The steal was his first July 19 versus the Guardians. He's up to seven thefts on nine attempts this season, so don't expect speed to be a huge part of his game. He's added a strong .271/.347/.477 slash line with 23 home runs, 74 RBI, 65 runs scored, 25 doubles and one triple through 130 contests.

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Picks up extra-inning save
Harris walked one but didn't allow a hit or a run over two-thirds of an inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Harris' walk loaded the bases with two outs, but he got Randy Arozarena to ground out, ending the threat and preserving the Athletics' lead. This was Harris' second save of the week, and he's on an eight-inning scoreless streak since he was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 9. On the year, he's had mixed results with a 3.65 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 52:27 K:BB over 49.1 innings across 36 relief appearances. He's added two saves and a hold, but it's unclear if he's in serious contention for high-leverage work to finish 2025.

Athletics' Jeffrey Springs: Fine effort in no-decision
Springs allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Saturday.
Springs had allowed nine runs over eight innings across his last two starts, so this was a good bounce-back effort. The southpaw has had Seattle's number all year, allowing just four runs over 22.1 innings across his four games versus the Athletics' division rivals. He threw 47 of 74 pitches for strikes in this outing. Springs has also allowed a home run in six straight starts after giving up a solo shot to Randy Arozarena. On the year, Springs has a 4.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 117:46 K:BB through 145.1 innings across 27 outings (25 starts). He is projected for a home start versus the Rangers in his next outing.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Getting breather
Harris is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.
Harris will take a seat Saturday for the first time since being called up Aug. 15, opening a start for Luis Urias at third base. Harris is 5-for-24 (.208) with four runs scored and three RBI since the promotion.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Collects one RBI in return
Wilson (forearm) went 1-for-4 with one RBI in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.
Wilson missed four weeks with a left forearm fracture. He was able to supply his RBI as the Athletics tried to mount a comeback in the ninth inning that ultimately fell short. The 23-year-old is set to resume his role as starting shortstop. He's at a .311/.353/.437 slash line with 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 46 runs scored and five stolen bases over 95 contests, so fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to activate him.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Smacks early homer
Rooker went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.
Rooker was responsible for two of the three baserunners the Athletics put on against Bryan Woo over the first seven innings. Rooker went deep in the first frame for his third homer over his last 12 games, a span in which he's batting .265 (13-for-49). For the season, the slugger is up to a .272/.345/.498 slash line with 26 homers, 74 RBI, 83 runs scored and five stolen bases through 130 contests.

Athletics' Luis Morales: Steady in third start
Morales allowed a run on two hits and struck out six without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Friday.
Morales retired the first 13 batters he faced before Eugenio Suarez hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Through four appearances (three starts), Morales is looking major-league ready, posting a 1.72 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB over 15.2 innings, with Friday's outing being against his toughest opponent yet. It's not yet clear when he'll start again, but the Athletics are at home versus the Tigers and Rangers in a pair of three-game series next week.

Athletics' Luis Urias: Sitting Friday
Urias is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Mariners on Friday.
Urias will be on the bench for a second straight game while Darell Hernaiz starts at second base and bats seventh. Urias hasn't been that productive at the plate since the All-Star break, posting a .546 OPS with five runs, one homer and six RBI across 66 plate appearances.

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Sent to Triple-A
The A's optioned Schuemann to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Schuemann made the Opening Day roster, and he's bounced around the infield as needed while making the occasional start in the outfield. However, with Jacob Wilson (forearm) back from the injured list, the Athletics are no longer in need of Schuemann's services. The 28-year-old has slashed .200/.303/.288 with a 20:33 BB:K in 188 plate appearances this season.

Athletics' Ben Bowden: Moved to injured list
The Athletics placed Bowden on the 15-day injured list Friday with a strained left lat.
Bowden appeared in 11 games after being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on July 23. The 30-year-old will require a stint on the injured list with a lat strain, opening up a spot in the bullpen for Eduarniel Nunez. Bowden has a 4.22 ERA in 10.2 innings with the A's.

Athletics' Jack Perkins: Placed on IL
The Athletics placed Perkins on the 15-day injured list Friday with a strained right shoulder.
Perkins appears to have picked up the injury during Thursday's start against Minnesota, when he yielded two runs over five innings en route to his third win of the campaign. The 25-year-old has a 4.19 ERA in 38.2 innings with the A's this season. Joey Estes was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill Perkins' spot on the roster and presumably in the rotation.

Athletics' Eduarniel Nunez: Called up by A's
The Athletics recalled Nunez from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Nunez will rejoin the A's active roster for the first time since being optioned Aug. 6. The 26-year-old will fill Ben Bowden's (lat) spot in the bullpen. A trade deadline acquisition from San Diego, Nunez has allowed two runs with a 10:2 K:BB in five innings with Las Vegas.

Athletics' Joey Estes: Back in majors
The Athletics recalled Estes from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Estes hasn't pitched in an MLB game since April 6, spending nearly all of the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas. The 23-year-old has posted a 5.51 ERA and 67:20 K:BB across 17 appearances (15 starts) spanning 80 innings with Las Vegas. Estes is likely to slot into the A's rotation, taking the place of Jack Perkins (shoulder), who landed on the 15-day injured list.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Activated from IL
The Athletics activated Wilson (forearm) from the 10-day injured list, and he will start at shortstop and bat fifth against the Mariners on Friday.
The 23-year-old will return to the majors after fully recovering from a fractured left forearm that landed him on the IL in late July. He appeared in four games for Triple-A Reno during his rehab assignment and went 3-for-14 with a solo homer and two additional runs scored. Max Schuemann was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Perfect at plate Thursday
Soderstrom went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Thursday's 8-3 win over the Twins.
Soderstrom reached base in all five of his plate appearances Thursday, though he didn't record an RBI. The 23-year-old has delivered exactly the kind of third-year breakout the Athletics were hoping for, slashing .273/.347/.483 with an .830 OPS, 25 doubles, 23 homers and 74 RBI across 128 games.
